Rare Fortifieds, experience true decadence

One of the most popular additions to Hardys Tintara Cellar Door was the recently released range of Hardys Rare Fortified wines. When the first batch of individually numbered bottles sold out in record time, we knew we had found a crowd favourite.

Now back in stock, the four wines include a Rare Tawny, Rare Muscat, Rare Liqueur Sauvignon Blanc and the Rare Show Sweet White - luscious, sweet expressions of some of our most classic styles. Classic because Hardys has been producing unique styles of fortified wines for over 100 years, making these new wines a fascinating evolution of that proud tradition.
Originally produced in the 1940s, the Rare Liqueur Sauvignon Blanc is not just a favourite with our customers, but also experts like James Halliday: “Pale golden amber; a totally unique style produced from Australia’s oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines, grown in McLaren Vale. Needless to say, very intense and very complex rancio with spicy, caramelised citrus fruit, honeycomb, butterscotch and almost fresh citrus notes buried on the finish. Remarkable balance. Rating 98 $100”.

The Hardys Rare Fortified range is crafted from our reserve wines, which have been matured in barrel over many decades, the wine is carefully selected, skilfully blended and produced in limited quantities, ensuring freshness and complexity are delivered just as Thomas Hardy would have demanded.
