Very pale platinum in colour with green tinges. Intense tropical aromas of passionfruit, with rich accents of guava, pineapple and paw-paw and sweet floral top-notes of hibiscus, vanilla orchid and passionflower. There is a herbaceous lift of Kaffir lime leaf, fresh basil, snow pea and Vietnamese mint and a saline minerality reminiscent of salt-crusted oyster shells and sea-spray. The palate is richly flavoured and incredibly vibrant. The sweet tropical flavours of passionfruit and pineapple are complemented by the classic Sauvignon Blanc characters of gooseberry, lychee and sweet basil. The palate is fresh and zesty with a crisp, flavourful mid palate, finishing with the mouth-watering zing of sherbet-like natural acidity.
Definitely a dream pairing with fresh Asian cuisine - green papaya salad, spicy chicken pad thai or san choy bau spring to mind.
Cool, wet conditions during December to February followed by warmer conditions resulted in a very late vintage. Extended hang time on the vine with increased canopy density due to the wet spring and summer allowed the fruit to attain excellent flavour.
